Our services

Our Carpentry Services in Newport News

All your work handled by qualified professionals in Newport News

Wood Rot & Dry Rot Repair

Salt air and humid summers soak the lowest boards first, so every Peninsula rot repair starts at the sill.

Included in your service

  • Sills, porch framing and bottom siding courses probed board by board
  • Rot cut back until the saw meets dry, solid wood
  • Replacement boards primed on all faces before installation
  • The leak, gutter or grade that fed the rot shown to you
Learn more→

Termite Damage Repair

Termites in Hampton Roads work year-round, so we rebuild the wood and remove the soil contact they used to reach it.

Included in your service

  • Mud tubes traced from the piers to every damaged member
  • Hollowed studs, sills and rim joists removed and replaced
  • Wood-to-soil contact and damp spots under the house corrected
  • Weakened framing reinforced so the wall carries its load again
Learn more→

Floor Joist & Subfloor Repair

A soft or sloping floor is a crawl space problem first, so we fix the joists before anything is refinished.

Included in your service

  • Crawl space inspected joist by joist with a moisture meter
  • Failing joists sistered or replaced with straight new lumber
  • Soft subfloor sections cut out and rebuilt flush
  • Floor checked for level before the finish goes back down
Learn more→

Beam Replacement & Load-Bearing Wall Removal

Taking out a load-bearing wall is engineering first and carpentry second, and we treat it in that order.

Included in your service

  • Engineer's drawings followed member by member
  • Temporary shoring set before any stud is cut
  • Engineered beam, posts and footings installed to the plan
  • Permit and inspection steps coordinated with your local office
Learn more→

Framing & Structural Carpentry

Good framing disappears behind the drywall, which is why we build every wall as if it will be inspected twice.

Included in your service

  • Walls laid out square and checked plumb at every stage
  • Storm- or termite-damaged members cut out and replaced
  • Headers sized for each opening rather than guessed
  • Framing left clean and ready for inspection
Learn more→

Finish & Trim Carpentry

Trim is what you see every day, so every joint gets the time it takes to close tight and stay closed.

Included in your service

  • Profiles matched to the age and style of the house
  • Miters glued and pinned, returns scribed to the wall
  • Even reveals held around every door and window
  • Nail holes filled and trim left ready for paint
Learn more→

Crown Molding & Baseboard Installation

Coped corners stay closed when humidity comes and goes, which is why we cope instead of mitering inside joints.

Included in your service

  • Existing period profiles matched or reproduced
  • Inside corners coped, outside corners glued tight
  • Crown scribed to wavy plaster ceilings
  • Caulk and filler finished smooth for paint
Learn more→

Custom Built-Ins & Shelving

A built-in should look like it came with the house, so we design it around the room rather than a catalog box.

Included in your service

  • Layout drawn to your measurements and how you use the space
  • Face frames and panels scribed to uneven walls and floors
  • Shelves sized for the weight they will actually carry
  • Finish-ready surfaces with hardware fitted and aligned
Learn more→

Interior Door Installation & Repair

Most sticking doors can be saved, so we diagnose the frame and hinges before suggesting a new slab.

Included in your service

  • Hinges, strike and jamb checked for movement
  • Door planed and rehung with an even gap all round
  • Split or loose jambs rebuilt and secured
  • Pocket and barn doors adjusted to run smoothly
Learn more→

Exterior & Entry Door Installation

An entry door is only as good as the flashing behind it, so we seal the opening before the door goes in.

Included in your service

  • Rotted frame and threshold assessed before any quote
  • Sill pan and head flashing installed to shed water
  • Door set plumb with weatherstrip that seals evenly
  • Exterior trim fitted and caulked against wind-driven rain
Learn more→

Cabinet & Vanity Installation

Cabinets only look straight if they are set to a true line, so we work from level rather than from the floor.

Included in your service

  • Reference line laid out level across the whole run
  • Boxes shimmed and fastened solidly to framing
  • Filler strips scribed to out-of-square walls
  • Doors, drawers and hardware aligned to even reveals
Learn more→

Stair & Railing Repair

A loose railing is a safety problem before it is a looks problem, so we make it solid first.

Included in your service

  • Treads and risers checked for movement and squeaks
  • Newel posts and balusters secured to the framing
  • Worn or split treads replaced to match
  • Handrail height and grip checked against the local code
Learn more→

Deck & Porch Repair

We repair what can be repaired and say plainly when a deck or porch has reached the end of its life.

Included in your service

  • Boards, posts and ledger probed for hidden rot
  • Damaged decking and rails replaced to match
  • Stair stringers and footings checked and secured
  • Honest repair-or-replace advice with both prices
Learn more→

Fascia, Soffit & Exterior Trim Repair

Roof-edge rot spreads quietly behind the gutter, so we open it up and replace every soft board we find.

Included in your service

  • Fascia and soffit probed along the full run
  • Rotted boards replaced with weather-resistant stock
  • Carpenter-bee holes filled and sealed
  • Vented soffit restored and gutter line left ready
